This is the project website for the Pascagoula River Drought Resiliency Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This website was created to:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District (USACE Mobile District) is reviewing a permit application to construct two water supply lakes for maintaining Pascagoula River flow during prolonged and severe droughts. The application is for a Department of the Army Permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 USC 1344). The “Applicant” of the proposed project is the Pat Harrison Waterway District in cooperation with the George County Board of Supervisors.

In order to fully evaluate the Applicant’s proposal, the USACE Mobile District is requiring that an EIS be prepared to determine the effects of the proposal on the human and natural environment. The EIS is to be the foundation for the USACE evaluation of Department of Army Permit Application SAM-2014-00653-MBM submitted for the proposed project. The preparation of the EIS will meet the requirements of the following standards of regulations:

The Pat Harrison Waterway District in cooperation with the George County Board of Supervisors (applicant), has applied for a Department of the Army Permit for the construction of two proposed water supply lakes to be located north of Wade, Mississippi, in both George and Jackson County, Mississippi.
