The Corps held an open house and public scoping meeting to allow the public to learn about the proposed project and submit comments on issues to evaluate for the EIS.
The open house was from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a brief address from the Corps at 6:30pm. The map and directions can be found below.
Directions:
From Lucedale, MS: Travel East on MS-198 approximately 2 miles. Senior Citizens building will be on the left, across from the Lucedale Donut & Breakfast.
From Pascagoula, MS: Travel North on MS-63 approximately 40 miles. Turn right onto Cooks Corner Rd in George County. Take MS-613N to Evanston Road, and then turn right. Continue on Evanston Road until MS-198W, and then turn left. The Senior Citizens building will be on your immediate right.

GROUND RULES for SCOPING MEETING
• Please be respectful of other’s views
• Wait for your turn (if you would like to speak to an USACE representative)
• Only USACE approved meeting materials and displays allowed inside the meeting space
• For the safety of the public, please do not block the entrance or exits to the meeting
• Do not disrupt the meeting in any way or you may be asked to leave or escorted out
TIPS FOR MAKING EFFECTIVE COMMENTS
• Be brief so the point of your comment is not missed.
• Be as specific as possible in your comments.
• Focus your comments on specific topics, locations, or issues.
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WOULD BE THE MOST USEFUL
• Are there additional issues (not already identified) that the USACE should consider?
• Are there additional alternatives that the USACE should consider?
Ways to Submit Comments
The commenting period for the public scoping of the EIS ended on February 6, 2017. The USACE is currently reviewing the comments received and is preparing a draft scoping report.
